Ride Forever – how post licence training can work
Nigel Kapa, Accident Compensation Corporation, New Zealand
Nigel Kapa is an Injury Prevention Partner for the Accident Compensation Corporation, specialising in motorcycle safety, behavioural change, and strategic programme leadership. He plays a key role in delivering national motorcycle safety strategies, including the highly successful Ride Forever programme, which has set the benchmark for rider training and harm reduction. Nigel applies behavioural science to influence high-risk riding behaviours and strengthen protective practices. Recognised for his collaborative approach, he works with government agencies, industry partners, and rider communities to co-design initiatives that foster systemic change and a strong safety culture. Nigel brings extensive leadership experience from government and NGO sectors, where he influenced policy and championed community safety outcomes. His work focuses on evidence-based strategies, stakeholder engagement, and fostering collaboration to create safer environments.
